The GIF Gallery, founded in 2023, shows contemporary digital art
As the name suggests, the gallery shows exclusively animated GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format). GIFs have been used by artists for over 30 years to express themselves and showcase their talent.
To attract the attention of people in the region, regional themes are used for the animations. Artists from all over the world are invited to create GIFs.
The 1st exhibition was dedicated to the theme and subject of Niesen, the striking mountain that has often been depicted in art.
The second exhibition dealt with the theme of silhouettes, which have a long tradition in Switzerland. The title of the show: SCHERENSCHNITT 3.0
The third exhibition was dedicated to the story of Heidi, the girl from the swiss mountains.
Followed by ZEITGEIST: ZEITGEIST encapsulates the cultural pulse of a specific era. It is the lens through which we perceive and interpret the world.
The current exhibition is dedicated to the artist Paul Klee.
Digital art is becoming increasingly well-known and popular. Non Fungible Tokens (NFT) have played their part. As the market is flooded with NFT platforms and digital works, curation and mediation are desirable and in demand.
The collector, creator and curator tiegenhof is the person behind the GIF Gallery. Through his collecting activities of digital art, especially in the GIF format, he has been able to establish contacts with artists from all over the world in recent years.

Die in Thun (Schweiz) ansässige GIF Gallery will digitale Kunst in der Region bekannter machen. Dazu erstellen international bekannten Künstler:innen Werke, in welchen Sujets aus dem Kanton Bern und der Schweiz thematisiert werden.
Die GIF Gallery gibt Kunstschaffenden aus der ganzen Welt die Möglichkeit, ihre Werke auf der Website gif-gallery.com zu zeigen. Wie der Name schon sagt, präsentiert die Online-Galerie ausschliesslich animierte GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format). GIFs werden seit über 30 Jahren von Künstler:innen genutzt, um sich auszudrücken und ihr Talent zu präsentieren.
Um die Aufmerksamkeit der Menschen in der Region zu wecken, werden für die Animationen regionale Themen verwendet. Die 1. Ausstellung widmete sich dem Thema und dem Sujet Niesen, dem markanten Berg, der in der Kunst schon oft dargestellt wurde.
Die 2. Ausstellung beschäftigte sich mit Scherenschnitten. In der Schweiz hat das Handwerk des Scherenschnitts seine Wurzeln im Kanton Bern.
Die folgende Ausstellung zeigte GIFs von Heidi und ihren Freunden. Die Geschichte von Heidi, dem Mädchen aus den Schweizer Bergen, ist weltbekannt.
ZEITGEIST war das nächste Thema. ZEITGEIST fasst den kulturellen Puls einer bestimmten Epoche zusammen. Es ist die Linse, durch die wir die Welt wahrnehmen und interpretieren.
Die aktuelle Ausstellung widmet sich dem Künstler Paul Klee.
Digitale Kunst erfreut sich immer grösserer Bekanntheit und Beliebtheit. Non Fungible Token (NFT) haben ihren Teil dazu beigetragen. Da der Markt mit NFT-Plattformen und digitalen Werken überschwemmt ist, sind Kuratierung und Vermittlung wünschenswert und gefragt.
